Our highly qualified oculoplastic surgeons at Exeter Eye are fully trained and experienced in oculoplastic surgery such as blepharoplasty and eyelid reconstruction.
As a dedicated eye surgery clinic, we strive to offer you the safest and most effective surgery, whether it is corrective or cosmetic.
Treatment Options
Our expert eye surgeons specialising in oculoplastic surgery cover a wide range of procedures, including:-
- Eyelid surgery such as blepharoplasty and eyelid reconstruction for ptosis, entropion, ectropion and eyelid tumours
- Tear duct surgery – it is very important to properly diagnose which part of the tear drainage system is blocked in order to determine the proper treatment
- Orbital surgery to manage thyroid and eye disorders, tumours and trauma
- Pediatric oculoplastic surgery to correct congenital defects and manage eye disorders in children.
Ectropion:
Ectropion can be addressed with a number of simple treatment options. Artificial tears, or ointments that lubricate the eye, can provide temporary relief for discomfort. A more long-term treatment option is to have a minor, in-office procedure performed by an eye surgeon, to tighten the eyelid, and restore it to its normal position.
This procedure allows the eyelids to once again protect the eye, and regain their healthy appearance. Soon afterward, the discomfort of Ectropion should subside, and the need for artificial tears and lubricating ointments, is virtually eliminated.
Entropion:
Entropion can be addressed with a number of simple treatment options. Artificial tears or ointments that lubricate the eye can provide temporary relief for the discomfort caused by Entropion. Similarly, a contact lens can be used like a bandage to temporarily relieve the pain.
A more long-term treatment option is to have a minor in-office procedure performed by an eye surgeon, to restore the eyelid to its normal position. This procedure frees the eyelashes from rubbing against the eye, and restores the eyelid’s normal, healthy appearance. Soon afterward, the discomfort of Entropion should subside, and the need for artificial tears and lubricating ointments is virtually eliminated.
